We offer convenient commuting from all directions, making it easy to integrate your career with your passion for the outdoors.

About the Role

The Utility Technician team is essential to the City's infrastructure, performing a variety of activities involving the construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of city water and sewer facilities. From inspecting water distribution mains and valves to responding to emergency water main breaks and sewer backups, our technicians ensure the continuous flow of essential services for our residents and businesses.

  • Utility Technician II & III: Journey-level positions where you will exercise valves, act as crew leads, and serve as the Operator in Responsible Charge (ORC) for specific projects.
  • Utility Technician IV: A senior-level position responsible for supervising confined space and trenching activities, acting as the ORC, and leading complex operations.

Rotating on-call duty is a required component of the role, ensuring that our team is always ready to address critical infrastructure needs at any time.

Hiring Process

Applicants are encouraged to review the specific qualifications for each level (I through IV) to ensure they meet the experience and certification requirements. The City of Golden values a diverse workforce and is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or genetic information.
