PAX is a dynamic organization dedicated to connecting exchange students from 70 different countries with public high schools across the USA. Our mission relies on a network of volunteer host families and trained Community Coordinators who ensure every student has a safe, supportive, and enriching experience. We pride ourselves on being a highly organized program that provides comprehensive printed materials, support, and 24/7 emergency assistance to all participants.
The Community Coordinator is a part-time, independent contractor (1099) position designed for individuals who are self-motivated and eager to make a meaningful impact in their local community. In this role, you will serve as the vital link between PAX, host families, and exchange students.
Your day-to-day responsibilities involve recruiting families interested in hosting an exchange student for either a 5- or 10-month program. Once recruited, you will interview and approve these families, ensuring they are the right fit. Beyond recruitment, you will provide ongoing mentorship and support to both teenage exchange students and their host parents. This includes conducting monthly check-ins, making calls, and organizing planned activities that fit your schedule. The role requires a caring, outgoing, and responsible individual capable of writing effective communications and responding appropriately in emergency situations.
We are looking for applicants who are 25 years of age or older. To prepare you for success, PAX provides comprehensive online training at no cost. This training includes testing and certification upon completion, ensuring you are fully equipped to handle the responsibilities of the role.
At PAX, safety and organization are paramount. All staff and host families undergo annual training and background checks. We offer a supportive environment with national and international trips for our coordinators, alongside competitive pay. If you are passionate about community engagement and cultural exchange, we invite you to join our team.
