About the Role
As a Line Worker, 1st Class, you will be a vital part of the team responsible for the construction, operation, maintenance, and removal of the transmission and distribution system. This role is designed for those who thrive in field operations, spending up to 90% of their time at pole construction sites, performing wire maintenance, and ensuring system reliability.
You will work closely with crew members to execute complex tasks, including operating trucks and equipment, performing live line work up to 46 KV, and utilizing rubber protective equipment for voltages up to 15 KV. The position requires a strong understanding of electrical theory and the ability to interpret work orders, plans, and prints. You may also act as a Lead Worker during temporary assignments, instructing and directing workers in lower classifications while maintaining strict adherence to safety rules and environmental procedures.
Hiring Process & Application
This position is part of a bargaining unit. Pursuant to the Versant Power-IBEW Collective Bargaining Agreement, positions shall be filled with the most senior applicant in the department who possesses the necessary qualifications before considering external candidates. Non-Bargaining Unit, Regular, and Term employees with at least six months of satisfactory job performance and attendance records in their current role are eligible to apply for posted openings.
