As an Aquatics Instructor, you will be the face of our program, presenting lessons and teaching merit badges to groups of 2 to 24 youth. This role is designed for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess the adaptability to learn both hard and soft skills on the go. You will not only transfer knowledge but also serve as a role model, maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area while assisting with the setup, maintenance, and takedown of program areas.
Your day will involve active engagement with participants, requiring the physical stamina to stand, walk, swim, and paddle for up to 8 hours daily. You will also be responsible for providing First Aid as needed and ensuring all advancement paperwork is submitted to your supervisor in a timely manner. This position is ideal for someone with a positive, cheerful attitude and a strong focus on customer service who is comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily communication.
Staff members reside in 10'x12' platform tents within Staff Camp and are expected to wear the Summit Staff Uniform. The work schedule typically ranges from 45 to 55 hours per week. All staff must complete the Annual Health and Medical Record, adhering to specific height and weight guidelines.
To join our team, candidates must be at least 18 years old. While a Red Cross Lifeguard certification is preferred, training is provided for those who do not yet hold it. All successful candidates must be willing to become registered Scouting America members, which includes undergoing a background screening. We look for individuals with high emotional intelligence, including self-awareness and social awareness, who can effectively navigate team dynamics.
