About Scripps Research

About the Role

The Licensing and Contracts Officer serves as a vital bridge between Scripps Research and the commercial sector, facilitating technology transfer and licensing. This role is designed to support the drafting, review, and negotiation of various contracts while fostering strategic relationships with biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, research funding organizations, and foundations. You will act as a liaison between investigators and industry partners, ensuring that new technologies are effectively marketed and that existing agreements are managed with precision and compliance. The position offers a dynamic environment where you will contribute to the commercialization of groundbreaking scientific discoveries.

Key Responsibilities

  • check_circleFacilitate strategic relationships and partnerships with biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies
  • check_circleDraft and negotiate term sheets and various contracts including License and Sponsored Research Agreements
  • check_circleResearch and draft initial licensing terms based on market insights and internal stakeholder input
  • check_circleManage existing licensing agreements and ensure compliance by tracking milestones and progress reports
  • check_circleEvaluate and record new technology disclosures to ensure contractual compliance with funding agreements
  • check_circleMaintain completeness and accuracy of OTD records and work products in repositories and databases
  • check_circleMarket select new technologies to potential partners to drive commercialization efforts
  • check_circleDraft, implement, and monitor standard operating procedures for Licensing and Transactions operations

Requirements

  • verifiedBachelor's degree in biological or chemical science
