This position serves as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) providing total nursing care for assigned patients under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. The role is critical to ensuring quality care delivery within the Jail North Tower and the Lew Sterrett Justice Center Medical Infirmary, operating on a full-time 6 PM to 6:30 AM shift.
In this capacity, you will screen and prioritize patients regarding medical problems to ensure timely treatment per physician orders. You will assist with inpatient and clinic coordination, including patient treatments, discharge activities, and transporting patients as needed. A key aspect of the role involves maintaining a safe healthcare environment by cleaning and sterilizing patient areas and medical instruments, as well as ensuring necessary supplies are available.
For Virtual Care positions, the focus shifts to proactive patient outreach using motivational interviewing to support health behavior change and self-management. This includes conducting comprehensive chart reviews to close gaps in care, assisting patients with health system navigation, and facilitating electronic communication modes like MyChart.
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to patient-centered care, adhering to the State of Texas Nurse Practice Act and Joint Commission standards. The team works to improve work processes and customer satisfaction while supporting the overall mission of Parkland. You will be expected to stay abreast of the latest developments in nursing through seminars, workshops, and professional journals, integrating new knowledge into daily practices.
Candidates must possess a current, valid LVN license from the Texas Board of Nursing or a valid Compact LVN license. Additionally, a current healthcare provider CPR completion card (American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network) is required. Specific locations may require a current Hearing and Vision Screening Certificate within 90 days of hire, and School Based Health positions require a valid Texas Class C Driver License.
Please note that this posting includes specific requisition details for various clinics and centers (e.g., COPC, School Based Health, Acute Response). Applicants should ensure their qualifications align with the specific requirements of the assigned location.
