Friends House is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of others through compassionate care. Our Nursing Department is led by a Nursing Supervisor and supported by a dedicated team of Geriatric Nursing Assistants and Certified Medicine Aides.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will play a vital role in providing high-quality resident care and managing the nursing unit. You will assist the Nursing Supervisor in daily operations and may act as the Charge Nurse, overseeing the unit's workflow. This position is ideal for those passionate about geriatric care who thrive in a collaborative environment.
Your day will involve a blend of administrative precision and hands-on nursing care. You will initiate resident assessments within seven days of admission and perform monthly MMDS evaluations. A significant portion of your time will be spent supervising resident care, checking charts for treatment and medication orders, and assigning duties to nursing assistants. You will also manage supplies, maintain equipment, and handle patient discharges and transfers. In emergency situations, you will schedule STAT lab tests, assist technicians on rounds, and maintain strict isolation and universal precautions. Additionally, you will lead restorative and rehabilitative programs, instructing patients in self-help and self-care techniques.
This role operates on a rotating schedule including 7am - 3pm and 3pm - 11pm shifts, covering weekdays and weekends as needed.
