About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our team of medical professionals at the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, GA. As a Correctional Licensed Mental Health Counselor, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical staff to provide counseling and mental health care to individuals in residence.
Working within a controlled environment where security is a top priority, you will engage with a diverse population of patients facing complex mental health and medical needs. This unique position offers the opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of residents by assessing, diagnosing, and treating mental illnesses, substance use disorders, and behavioral issues. Your work will ensure patients receive quality care that protects their rights, dignity, and health while promoting positive behavioral change to prepare them for release.

- check_circleCollaborate with medical, mental health, and correctional staff to ensure quality patient care
- check_circleDevelop and deliver patient education materials and treatment programs
- check_circleMonitor compliance with ACA, NCCHC standards, and facility policies
- check_circleParticipate in educational training activities for patients and security personnel
- check_circleAssess, diagnose, and treat patients with mental illnesses and substance use disorders
- check_circleManage case files, prepare reports, and participate in legal hearings
- check_circleConduct individual and group counseling sessions to promote positive behavioral change
Requirements
- verifiedMaster's degree in Mental Health
- verifiedActive unrestricted licensure (LCSW, LCMHC, LMFT, LMHP, LISW) in Georgia
- verifiedActive BLS CPR Certification
- verified3+ years clinical experience in mental health or acute care
- verifiedKnowledge of DSM-V/DSM-V-TR criteria
- verifiedKnowledge of psychotropic medications
- verifiedPass criminal background check and drug screening
Nice to Have
American Heart Association BLS CPR Certification. Correctional healthcare experience.
