This part-time, on-site position serves as a Library Document Coordinator supporting BAE Systems' work as a prime contractor on high-profile U.S. Navy weapon systems. You will support the Navy Program Manager responsible for Strategic Systems Planning (SSP) Facilities Acquisition at TRIDENT Submarine Bases, primarily located in Kings Bay, Georgia, and Bangor, Washington, with on-site duties in Washington, DC.
In this role, you will play a key part in managing and providing oversight of the BAE Facilities SSP historical library. Your day-to-day work involves managing all historical and new volumes of MILCON and design documentation, cataloging existing volumes, and creating digital versions of documents. You will ensure high-quality research services and effective library operations, including the monitoring and cataloging of aerial photos. Additionally, you will collaborate with corporate Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) personnel to maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety objectives. Strict confidentiality of sensitive information is required.
Our organization has supported the U.S. Navy's Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) continually since the program's inception in the 1950s. SSP developed the first sea-based, underwater-launched Strategic Weapon System (SWS), a defense system critical to national security. For over six decades, SSP has maintained and upgraded this weapon system, which serves as the first leg of the U.S. nuclear triad. With over 70% of the nation's nuclear arsenal, its importance to maintaining world peace cannot be overstated.
The development of Columbia, the most advanced nuclear-powered, nuclear-armed submarine ever designed, along with the next D5LE2 weapon system, is underway and will begin to be rolled out over the next decade. The Navy projects this system to be operational through 2084, meaning the program will have a total life span of more than 120 years. As a decades-long sole source partner on multiple contracts, our program offers remarkable stability and is concurrently experiencing significant growth, providing ample opportunity for professional growth and development.
BAE Systems, Inc. is the wholly owned U.S. subsidiary of BAE Systems plc, one of the top ten defense contractors globally. We employ a skilled workforce of around 100,000 people in more than 40 countries, developing, engineering, manufacturing, and supporting products and systems to protect national security and keep people safe.
BAE Systems Intelligence & Security (I&S), based in McLean, Virginia, designs and delivers advanced defense, intelligence, and security solutions that support the important missions of our customers. Our pride and dedication show in everything we do—from intelligence analysis and cyber operations to systems development and integration. Knowing that our work enables the U.S. military and government to recognize, manage, and defeat threats inspires us to push ourselves and our technologies to new levels.
