Position Overview

The Legal & Compliance role is dedicated to minimizing risk, fraud, claims, and cargo theft while ensuring high levels of service and operational efficiency. This position serves as a critical partner to carrier sales teams across all terminals, working closely to enforce best practices and drive continuous improvements in carrier selection and compliance processes.

Day in the Life

You will manage the full spectrum of carrier compliance platforms and tools, including Highway, DAT, Carrier 411, Carrier Assure, and Happy Robot, continuously evaluating them to improve cost, speed, and reliability in the vetting process. A significant portion of your time will be spent overseeing high-risk freight, ensuring that non-standard shipments—such as high-value, theft-prone, in-bond, cross-border, or oversize/overweight cargo—are handled exclusively by qualified carriers with proper protocols.

When incidents occur, you will lead investigations for freight claims exceeding $20,000, providing detailed written reports that outline root causes and actionable recommendations to prevent recurrence. Beyond investigation, you will conduct spot audits of carrier sales procedures to ensure adherence to internal policies, communicating findings and driving consistency through a monthly best practices newsletter tailored to carrier sales teams. As a trusted advisor, you will build strong relationships with terminal leaders and carrier sales representatives, serving as an active partner in day-to-day operations while staying current on industry trends and compliance regulations.
