WSP USA Inc is seeking a Lead Pipeline Engineer to join our team in Houston, Texas. In this role, you will collaborate with engineering colleagues across the globe to deliver comprehensive pipeline solutions for clients in the mining, oil & gas, and water sectors. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who thrives in an engaged, collaborative environment and is driven to excel.
As a Lead Pipeline Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design of pipeline systems across their entire lifecycle. From planning and feasibility studies (FEED) to route selection, permitting, detail design, procurement, construction, and eventual deactivation or demolition, you will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering staff to ensure project success.
Your day-to-day will involve providing critical engineering support for pipeline routing studies, stress analysis, and mechanical detailed engineering design for liquid, gas, and slurry systems, including DOT-regulated pipelines and terminal/station pumping and piping. You will actively participate in field and site walks, coordinating investigations such as surveys, utility studies, environmental delineations, geotechnical assessments, and hydrologic evaluations to support design efforts.
Beyond technical design, you will coordinate engineering and survey services to support right-of-way acquisition needs and prepare essential project funding documents, including cost estimates, equipment bid summaries, and authorization requests. You will also support the development of permit application packages and manage the preparation and review of proposals, technical reports, workplans, design packages, and calculations.
A key part of your impact involves managing project delivery in accordance with company procedures and quality management plans. You will interact directly with clients, participating in meetings, preparing progress reports, and maintaining responsive, positive relationships. You will also provide engineering and field construction support services, troubleshooting issues alongside the project team.
At WSP, health and safety are top priorities. We seek candidates who understand the importance of safety and are enthusiastic about participating in our associated programs. We value high levels of personal integrity, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work both independently and within diverse groups, including contractors and cross-discipline in-house designers.
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution and have a minimum of 7-10 years of pipeline design experience in either consulting or pipeline operating company settings. Registration as an Engineer in Training (EIT) is required, with a Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
Candidates should be willing to travel up to 25% as dictated by project demands. Please submit your application through our official career portal to be considered for this opportunity.
