The Material Handler Lead serves as a vital bridge between management and the warehouse floor, providing leadership and training to Material Handlers and Donation Attendants. This role is essential for maintaining the operational efficiency and safety of the donation processing area. You will not only perform duties independently but also guide a team in the safe loading and unloading of trucks and trailers, the accurate sorting of donated goods, recycled materials, and hazardous waste, and the upkeep of a clean, organized warehouse environment.
Your day involves a dynamic mix of hands-on material handling and team coordination. You will operate pallet jacks, forklifts, cardboard compactors, and textile balers while ensuring strict adherence to Goodwill Industries rules, CARF standards, and state safety guidelines. Beyond the physical tasks, you act as a customer service representative, treating all donors and staff with respect. You will also identify opportunities to improve processes, report maintenance needs for equipment, and maintain accurate records. The environment is fast-paced, often requiring flexibility to accommodate changing production demands and working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
