The Lead Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Embedded Software Engineer joins the I&C Engineering team within the GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GVH) organization. This team is dedicated to designing and implementing the critical electronic hardware and software systems that power Nuclear Power Plants. The I&C software group operates at the intersection of hardware design and plant system operations, requiring deep collaboration across the GVH business functions to ensure safety, reliability, and innovation in nuclear energy infrastructure.
This position serves as a technical leader responsible for delivering high-quality engineering software solutions for complex nuclear systems. The role goes beyond standard development; it involves defining scope with customers, managing technical risks, and establishing effective work plans alongside technical leaders. You will apply first-order engineering principles to verify performance and provide clear analysis documentation in strict accordance with GVH engineering procedures. A key aspect of this role is mentoring junior staff and fostering a culture of creative problem-solving that challenges the status quo while adhering to rigorous industry standards.

Experience understanding C Coding standards that meets and delivers desired functionality using technology selected for the project. Familiarity of MISRA-C. Solves technical challenges through application of common design patterns and identifying appropriate patterns for use in problem solving. Effective use of data structures and algorithms. Leadership experience inside and/or outside the classroom. Excellent written and verbal communications skills and ability to articulate clearly. Contributes to creative solutions and challenges status quo. Proactively learns new tools and identifies opportunities for improvement and promotes their adoption. Experience with software development in an industry standard environment (DO-178, SEAL). Knowledge of common development paradigms (Agile, Waterfall).
