The 2026-2027 Lead Dyslexia Teacher Pool serves as a critical component of the Special Services department, dedicated to implementing the district's dyslexia program in full compliance with federal, state, and district policies. This role exists to ensure that students at risk for and identified with dyslexia receive timely screening, accurate identification, and structured support through specially designed instruction.
As a Lead Dyslexia Teacher, you will function as a resource for multidisciplinary teams, campus administrators, and intervention providers. Your day involves facilitating the screening-to-evaluation process, developing and tracking Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals, and ensuring that interventions and accommodations are effectively implemented across campus. You will also collaborate with campus staff to support the MTSS/RtI process and assist in professional development for parents, guardians, and educators regarding dyslexia and early intervention.
This position may require travel among various elementary and middle school campuses within the district. Teachers in this pool will be evaluated according to the Board's policy on teacher evaluation (T-TESS) or the policy for Professional Non-Supervisor Personnel, depending on the grade level served (K-6 or 7-12).
Hiring administrators will review applications, conduct interviews, and make recommendations for hire. Successful candidates will be offered a probationary contract consisting of 187 days plus 4 days of Alief U professional development for teachers new to the district.
