About the Role
As a Lead Direct Support Professional, you will serve as a vital role model and mentor for our Direct Support Professionals while working directly with adults who have intellectual and cognitive disabilities. This position exists to bridge the gap between daily care and leadership, ensuring that every individual we support experiences independence, dignity, and personal growth.
In this role, you will provide on-the-floor leadership by modeling best practices, offering coaching to team members, and helping to orient new staff. Your day-to-day involves creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where individuals can build life skills and participate in meaningful community activities. You will be the face of LEAP's values—Inclusion, Respect, Empowerment, and Enrichment—while guiding the team in maintaining high standards of care and documentation.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleProvide direct, person-centered support to adults with intellectual and cognitive disabilities in community and residential settings
- check_circleAssist individuals with daily living activities including personal care, hygiene, meal preparation, and household tasks
- check_circleImplement individualized support plans, behavior support strategies, and health-related protocols as directed by supervisors
- check_circleAdminister medications and follow medical protocols in accordance with agency policies and state regulations
- check_circleModel best practices and provide on-the-floor leadership, guidance, and coaching to other Direct Support Professionals
- check_circleAssist with orienting and supporting new staff members to understand agency values and daily routines
- check_circleCoordinate daily schedules, transportation, appointments, and community outings to support meaningful engagement
- check_circlePromote a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment that upholds the dignity and rights of the people supported
Requirements
- verifiedValid driver's license with clean driving record
- verifiedCPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
- verifiedCrisis intervention training (e.g., CPI or equivalent, or ability to obtain)
