As one of 12 Reserve Banks, the Boston Fed serves all or parts of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Our mission is to promote sound growth and financial stability in New England and the nation. We accomplish this through economic research, monetary policy-making, financial supervision, and leadership in the payments industry. Our work is guided by our core values: community, innovation, integrity, trust, leadership, and excellence.
As a sworn Federal Police Officer, you will serve as a critical guardian of the Bank's physical security and safety. This role is essential to protecting life, property, and assets while enforcing federal laws and Federal Reserve policies. You will act with full arrest powers, responding to incidents on Bank property and providing emergency services during both routine operations and crisis situations.
Your day-to-day responsibilities involve maintaining a secure environment by controlling pedestrian and vehicle access, patrolling the facility and grounds, and monitoring surveillance systems. You will be the first line of defense, utilizing specialized equipment to scan for unauthorized items and responding to alarms or security violations. Beyond physical security, you will engage in de-escalation, public relations, and initial investigations, ensuring that all actions are documented clearly and accurately. This position requires the ability to make independent, life-saving decisions under pressure and to work extended hours during emergencies.
Candidates are invited to apply through the Federal Reserve System Careers portal. The selection process includes a review of qualifications, background checks, and assessments of physical and technical capabilities. Successful candidates must complete the Basic Law Enforcement Course (BLEC) and the Field Training Evaluation Program (FTEP) as part of their onboarding.
The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace, providing equal employment opportunities to all persons without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, genetic information, disability, or military service. We value differences and strive to create an environment where every employee is respected.
All employees are subject to strict ethics rules regarding financial interests and must comply with FBI fingerprint, criminal background, and Patriot Act/OFAC watch list checks. We encourage applicants to review the Bank's Employee Code of Conduct to ensure alignment with these conflict of interest rules.
