BAE Systems, Inc. is the U.S. subsidiary of BAE Systems plc, an international defense, aerospace, and security company. Our mission is ambitious yet clear: improving the future and protecting lives. We deliver a full range of products and services for air, land, and naval forces, alongside advanced electronics, security, and information technology solutions.
The Platforms & Services (P&S) sector handles the "big stuff"—armored combat vehicles, naval guns, missile launchers, and ship repair. Our employees take pride in their work, knowing they are on the front lines building products that protect the lives of those who serve. At BAE Systems, you will use your passion and ingenuity to defend national security with breakthrough technology, honing your skills on a team that makes a big impact on a global scale.
The Louisville, Kentucky site is actively seeking a Laser Tracker Inspector to support our First Shift on a 9/80 schedule (typically 6:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.). This role is critical for developing quality plans and assurance procedures while performing precise layout work using advanced measurement equipment.
You will interpret customer drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) specifications, and utilize laser trackers to align components to machine coordinates. A key part of your day involves determining the best fit for weldments to optimize machine stock and performing first piece, last piece, and in-process inspection checks. You will also evaluate nonconforming material to determine final disposition and provide support to Manufacturing Engineering and other business units.
This position requires regular presence in a manufacturing or fabrication environment. You must be able to safely navigate production areas, which may involve climbing, kneeling, stooping, and working in confined spaces. While you will often work alone, you will also collaborate with cross-functional teams and may be called upon to direct less senior personnel, support off-shifts, or work overtime as needed.
Candidates must be able to obtain a security clearance for program support. The interview process typically involves reviewing qualifications against the required experience in metrology, GD&T, and blueprint reading, followed by discussions on technical capabilities and team fit.
BAE Systems is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to building a diverse workforce and do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
