As a Laboratory Assistant II, you will serve as a vital link in the diagnostic process at the SCPMG Regional Reference Lab. This temporary, part-time position focuses on the critical pre-analytical and post-analytical phases of laboratory testing. You will perform venipuncture and skin punctures for patients of all ages, ensuring samples are collected, labeled, and transported with the highest level of precision and care.
Your day will involve selecting the appropriate phlebotomy technique based on a patient's age and physical maturation, assessing blood quality, and handling difficult patients with professionalism. Beyond drawing blood, you will manage the pre-analytical workflow by barcoding, centrifuging, separating, logging, culturing, and staining bacteriological specimens. You will also maintain inventory levels, check in patients, collect revenue, and provide preparation instructions to ensure a smooth patient experience.
This role requires strict adherence to Kaiser Permanente policies, state and federal laws, and the specific directives of supervisors. While the SCPMG Regional Reference Lab does not require phlebotomy certification, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform all duties at a fully satisfactory level. This is a temporary position lasting approximately three months, with days and hours that may vary across locations including Diamond Bar, Montebello, West Covina, San Dimas, and Irwindale.
