This position serves as a vital component of the School Facilities & Energy Conservation management team, operating under the supervision of the Buildings Supervisor. As a safety-sensitive custodial role, the incumbent is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of school buildings and grounds. The work involves a comprehensive range of duties, from deep cleaning interior surfaces like walls, HVAC diffusers, and ceiling fans to exterior groundskeeping tasks such as snow removal, lawn care, and waste management.
The role requires significant physical agility and the ability to function in close quarters amidst various environmental conditions, including noise, vibrations, and atmospheric contaminants. Employees must be prepared to work outdoors in wet, hot, and cold weather while performing tasks that involve lifting, climbing, and operating both hand and power tools. This is a full-time position scheduled from Monday through Friday, 3:10 PM to 11:10 PM, representing a critical evening shift to ensure schools are ready for the following day.
Candidates for this safety-sensitive position must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen, a driving history review, and fingerprinting. Additionally, all municipal employees are required to obtain MA Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) clearance and complete Conflict-of-Interest Law Education training. A valid Massachusetts Class D driver's license is mandatory for this role.
