The Junior Accountant supports the financial management of projects by assisting with job costing, billing, budgeting, and month-end close activities. This role works closely with Project Managers and the Accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting, precise cost tracking, and adherence to company policies and internal controls. Key Responsibilities
- check_circleAssist with project setup in the accounting system, including establishing budgets, cost codes, and job numbers
- check_circleTrack and maintain job costs, ensuring project-related expenses are coded accurately and entered timely
- check_circleSupport project billing activities by preparing invoices, assembling backup documentation, and coordinating customer submissions
- check_circleAssist with accounts payable and receivable functions related to project work, including invoice entry and payment tracking
- check_circleReconcile project costs to the general ledger and investigate variances or discrepancies as they arise
- check_circleSupport month-end close processes by preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and assisting with reporting
Requirements
- verified0-3 years of accounting experience
- verifiedBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- verifiedBasic understanding of GAAP principles
- verifiedProficiency in Excel including formulas, lookups, and pivot tables
Nice to Have
Exposure to project or cost accounting. Experience within a project-driven or construction-related environment. Proficiency with Excel pivot tables. Project or cost accounting experience in a construction or project-based industry. Experience with ERP or accounting systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Sage, or QuickBooks.
