Community Access Unlimited is a non-profit social services agency dedicated to providing essential supports to individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. The Job Developer serves as a vital bridge between Pre-Employment Transition Services (ETS) students with disabilities (aged 14-21) and the local workforce. This role exists to empower students by assessing their unique skills and career interests to secure meaningful worksite locations. You will be the primary architect of community partnerships, developing internship sites and fostering relationships with local businesses across Union and Essex Counties.
In this position, you will provide vocational instruction and job-seeking skills to students in both individual and group settings. Your day-to-day involves gathering insights from students, families, and referring staff to determine appropriate employment goals, performing site analyses to ensure suitability, and assisting interns in overcoming barriers to employment. You will also coordinate transportation needs, provide travel training, and maintain ongoing communication with referral sources and NJDVRS Counselors to track student progress.
This role requires flexibility, with shifts varying throughout the week. Evenings and weekends are required as necessary to accommodate student schedules and business needs.
