This role supports the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) in Lansing, ensuring the integrity and security of critical patient information systems. The team is responsible for maintaining complex Java applications and developing enhancements that streamline business processes. The absence of this resource would force manual documentation and screen planning, leading to potential data integrity issues and incorrect reporting of patient information. The mission is to secure applications, ensure SEM/SUITE compliance, and maintain automated processes that protect sensitive health data.
As a Programmer Analyst 4, you will be integral to the full software development life cycle (SDLC) for the department. You will write well-designed, testable code and develop business application components using Object-Oriented Java/JEE technologies. The role involves designing and developing RESTful Web Services, maintaining applications using Apache Struts, and implementing robust design patterns such as Intercepting Filter, Front Controller, and DAO. You will also be responsible for developing database objects, tuning SQL queries, and integrating software components into fully functional systems.
In this position, you will collaborate with stakeholders to review and approve software design documents, prototypes, and mockups. You will create flowcharts and screen layouts to ensure the logical flow of system requirements. The role demands a deep understanding of modern frameworks including Spring Boot, Spring Data, Spring Batch, and Spring Security, alongside experience with React.js, Redux, and modern JavaScript (ES6+). You will also work within large agile projects, utilizing DevOps practices and cloud platforms to accelerate development.
This is a hybrid position located at 235 Grand S Ave, Lansing, MI, 48933. The work schedule is non-negotiable: candidates must be local to the Lansing, Michigan area (within 90 miles) at the time of submission. The required onsite days are Mondays and Tuesdays, with remote eligibility for Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. There is no remote-only option available for this role.
Interviews are scheduled for the week of April 27. The process consists of a 1-hour virtual interview via MS Teams, where video is required. Candidates must join from a laptop and be prepared to share their screen if requested. A screenshot photo of the candidate will be required for all interviews, and a vendor representative will be present at the beginning of the virtual interview to validate the candidate.
