As an IT Specialist (PLVYPLN), GS-2210-11, you will serve as a technical advisor to local base information technology and communications users. Your primary focus is on policy and plans related to IT and communications systems, involving the planning, development, management, and enforcement of approved Air National Guard (ANG) and local architecture.
You will act as the lead manager for IT and communications projects, overseeing the acquisition and control of equipment and services at Flying Wing, tenant organizations, and geographically separated units. The role is split between 60% Information Technology issues and systems and 40% telecommunications-specific issues and systems.
This position is designated as Essential Personnel. As such, you may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. The role requires conducting travel to offsite worksites, which may involve overnight stays due to distances involved.
Federal employment suitability is determined by a background investigation. Successful candidates may be required to complete a two-year trial period. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. If the position requires operating a motor vehicle, a valid state driver's license is required.
For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret), the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment. Additionally, irregular and/or overtime hours may be required to support operational requirements, contingencies, or to work outside the normal duty day.
This position conducts Information Assurance functions. The incumbent must comply with the requirements of the certification program outlined in DoD Instruction 8570.01-M, the Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002, and the Clinger Cohen Act of 1996. You must be certified in accordance with current Air Force directives and maintain that certification throughout your tenure.
