Under the supervision of the Laboratory Information System Manager, the IT Analyst for Laboratory Systems serves as a critical bridge between technical capabilities and clinical operations. This role is designed to collaborate with external vendors, system owners, community partners, contractors, and Health Science Campus leadership to design, develop, implement, and operationalize laboratory information systems.
The incumbent will identify and document IT design specifications by analyzing user needs and generating need-gap analyses. Using sound technical knowledge, the analyst will define system scope and objectives, evaluate existing or proposed systems, and devise procedures to solve complex data processing problems. This position requires a deep understanding of requirement specifications, interface design, and testing, while acting as a subject matter expert for department functions.
You will analyze application and interface problems, workflows, and user requirements to independently and collaboratively develop robust solutions. A significant portion of the role involves working directly with users to define new application requirements, resolve project issues, and explain new technologies. You will contribute to project planning by identifying key milestones and raising critical issues regarding resource needs and contingencies.
As a self-motivated professional, you will build productive networks with internal and external customers and the vendor community. You may be responsible for instructing, directing, and reviewing the work of staff, as well as creating scripts to perform interface functions. The role demands the ability to translate technical flows into workflows for multiple levels of the organization and requires flexibility to fulfill on-call responsibilities.
