About the Role
This position serves as a vital operational anchor within the store, bridging the gap between inventory management, pharmacy compliance, and customer service. You will be responsible for championing On-Shelf Availability and ensuring the accuracy of both front-end and pharmacy inventory processes. From receiving and counting deliveries to managing complex pricing activities and asset protection, your work ensures the store runs smoothly and safely.
In designated stores, you may also step into a leadership role as the Leader on Duty, where you will open and close the store, manage cash handling, and resolve customer issues to deliver a distinctive and delightful experience. You will act as a liaison between management and the team, coaching others on inventory systems and communicating operational needs.
The Day-to-Day
Your day will be a dynamic mix of precision and people interaction. You will scan in deliveries, verify pharmacy shipments under the supervision of the pharmacist-in-charge, and execute end-to-end On-Shelf Availability processes for planogrammed departments. Accuracy is paramount; you will validate planograms, maintain inventory counts, and ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products like alcohol and tobacco.
Beyond the back room, you will engage directly with customers, greeting them and offering assistance. As a role model for customer service best practices, you will share habits like proactive help and courtesy with your team. When acting as the Leader on Duty, you will be accountable for registering sales, handling refunds, and managing the point-of-sale system.
Hiring Process
We are looking for candidates with a strong foundation in retail operations. Internal candidates should have six months of prior work experience with Walgreens, while external candidates are expected to have one year of prior retail experience. A willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, is essential.
