As an Interrelated Elementary Teacher, you will serve as a vital member of a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to maximizing student learning within the Interrelated Classroom. Your primary mission is to provide appropriate, individualized curriculum to identified special education students, ensuring they meet established outcomes based on their Individual Education Plans (IEPs). This role goes beyond instruction; it is about fostering interest and enthusiasm for learning, helping students grasp knowledge through tailored activities that build academic, daily living, and social skills.
You will be the architect of each student's educational journey, working closely with regular education staff, parents, and administrators to diagnose needs, structure IEPs, and communicate progress. Your day involves adapting course content to specific skill levels, designing reinforcement activities, and managing classroom dynamics to create a supportive environment where every student can succeed. Whether leading lectures, facilitating group projects, or supervising paraprofessionals, your focus remains on creating a physical and emotional space that reflects the season and subject matter to facilitate deep learning.
You will be working under the direct supervision of a department supervisor while collaborating with a diverse population of students, colleagues, and families. Success in this role requires tact, diplomacy, and a positive attitude when interacting with internal and external customers. Candidates must hold a valid Kansas Teaching License with an Adaptive Endorsement. Primary Teachers must possess K-9 or K-6 Certification. A Master's degree in Special Education is required, or you must be enrolled in a Special Education Degree Program with a Plan of Study on file with the District, along with a Special Education Waiver. Prior teaching experience is preferred.
