The Instrumentation Engineer serves as a critical technical authority within the Air Force test and evaluation ecosystem. This role is dedicated to planning, designing, integrating, and sustaining complex airborne and ground-based instrumentation systems that support weapon systems, subsystems, and fifth-generation aircraft platforms. The position ensures system performance, data integrity, and mission success within a secure operational environment at Nellis Air Force Base.
You will apply professional electronics engineering principles and advanced development test and evaluation methodologies to solve unique, complex, or novel engineering challenges. As a technical advisor, you will contribute to project execution and program planning, assessing the impact of emerging technologies on existing operational capabilities. The role requires devising validation criteria for instrumentation design and authoring recording instructions for fifth-generation aircraft systems to meet stakeholder requirements.
Success in this position involves collaborating effectively with government personnel, peers, management, contractors, and academic institutions. You will prepare and review technical documentation with rigor while providing expert judgment to resolve issues that may require deviation from standard practices. This is a role where your engineering expertise directly influences the execution of high-stakes test and evaluation missions.
Candidates must possess an active Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain access to Nellis Air Force Base. The selection process evaluates technical proficiency against specific experience levels ranging from two to fourteen years, depending on the grade level, alongside a thorough review of engineering background and relevant technical discipline.
