University Information Technology (UIT) serves as the central IT service provider for the University of Utah, reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer. The team is responsible for a vast array of shared services, including wired and wireless networks, the Campus Information Services (CIS) portal, UMail, telephone systems, online collaboration tools, digital learning technologies, information security, and software licensing.
We are seeking a highly motivated, upbeat, and approachable Information Technology Specialist III to join our on-site team. This role is designed for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a customer service-oriented environment. You will provide comprehensive support for Windows and macOS workstations, Windows servers, specialized software, iOS tablets, printers, and network configurations.
In this position, you will manage desktop computer updates, patches, and security, while also handling computer imaging and OS installations. Your day-to-day will involve troubleshooting complex hardware and software issues, writing technical documentation, and maintaining Active Directory group policies. You will also assist with network connectivity, inventory management, and the implementation of automated process scripting.
Collaboration is key; you will cross-train peer staff on special software and procedures, consult on computing needs assessments, and work with others to train or be trained on unique systems. This role requires a commitment to continuous learning to research and support both legacy and new software solutions.
Availability
This is an on-site position that requires a 24×7 on-call rotation. You must be available to work after hours as needed to support designated departments and ensure timely, professional customer interaction.
