The Industrial Hygienist serves as a critical public health resource for the HES Department at our Sinclair, WY refinery. Operating under minimal supervision, this role is dedicated to identifying, evaluating, measuring, and controlling employee hazards within the refinery environment. The position requires a proactive approach to updating programs and policies, ensuring constant evaluation for areas of improvement, and managing exposure assessments for all employees and contractors.
Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing entry and hot work permits, serving as the radiation safety director, asbestos coordinator, and incident safety officer, and managing the respiratory and hearing protection programs. The role also involves providing essential training to new hires. This position may occasionally direct or lead the work of others and requires the ability to navigate a complex work environment that includes office settings, refinery operations, warehouses, and outdoor conditions. The role involves exposure to chemicals, pressure vessels, rotating equipment, confined spaces, and varying weather conditions, with travel required up to 25% of the time.
