About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Immigration Paralegal to join our team. This part-time position (20 hours per week) is designed for someone passionate about making a tangible community impact. In this role, you will partner closely with an attorney to provide high-quality, client-centered immigration legal services. Your work will directly support individuals as they navigate the immigration process, handling everything from initial intakes to the preparation of complex petitions and humanitarian relief filings.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleConduct client intakes and gather relevant background information and documentation
- check_circleAssist in the preparation and filing of immigration applications and petitions
- check_circleDraft forms, declarations, cover letters, and supporting documentation for attorney review
- check_circleCommunicate with clients regarding case status, document requests, and appointment scheduling
- check_circleOrganize and maintain legal paperwork, files, exhibits, and other important client information
- check_circleTrack deadlines and ensure timely filing of applications and responses
- check_circleProvide administrative and logistical support for legal clinics and community outreach events
- check_circleDisseminate information about the program to community groups to ensure client awareness
- check_circleMaintain client records and program performance statistics and prepare required reports
- check_circleConduct data entry and reporting in database systems such as EmpowOr and LawLogix
- check_circleConduct legal research related to laws, legal articles, and case-relevant information
- check_circlePerform administrative tasks including filing, scanning, uploading documents, and managing communications
Requirements
- verifiedPreferred bachelor's degree in paralegal studies, criminal justice, or legal studies
- verifiedMinimum of five (5) years of immigration legal experience preferred
- verifiedFluency in Spanish is strongly preferred
- verifiedValid New Jersey driver's license and access to reliable transportation required
Nice to Have
Bachelor's degree in paralegal studies, criminal justice, or legal studies. Minimum of five years of immigration legal experience. Nonprofit experience. Familiarity with New Jersey institutions and social service systems. Fluency in Spanish. Experience working within an interdisciplinary team environment.
