About the Role

HVAC/Refrigeration Technicians are essential to maintaining the operational integrity of city facilities. In this position, you will install, maintain, and repair the electrical and mechanical components of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration control systems. The role requires a blend of independent problem-solving and collaborative coordination, as you will develop deadlines and work plans in consultation with your supervisor while interpreting policy to meet established objectives.

You will serve as the primary point of contact for the progress of assigned tasks, ensuring that work orders are executed efficiently and that inventory levels are managed to meet departmental needs. Whether working on routine inspections or complex repairs, you will exercise significant latitude in determining the necessary materials and methods to complete assignments effectively.

Work Environment

This position offers a dynamic work environment that spans both city-owned facilities and various field locations. You will utilize a wide array of hand tools and powered equipment, including power saws, nail guns, and drills, to service electrical, gas, and air-powered systems. The role involves occasional moderate physical exertion, including lifting, carrying, and climbing, with the potential to handle objects weighing up to 75 lbs. Technicians must be prepared to work in diverse weather conditions, ranging from extreme heat to cold temperatures, ensuring that critical infrastructure remains functional regardless of the season.
