Bering Straits Native Corporation (BSNC) was formed as a result of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) in 1972. As the regional Alaska Native Corporation for the Bering Strait region, we encompass the majority of the Seward Peninsula and the coastal lands of eastern Norton Sound. This is one of the most culturally diverse regions in the state, where three distinct Native languages are spoken: St. Lawrence Island Yupik, Central Yup'ik, and Inupiaq.
The Human Resources Business Partner serves as a strategic guide across HR functions, driving operational excellence and supporting federal contracting requirements while contributing to a positive employee experience. This role is designed to proactively partner with leadership to address organizational needs, cultivate strong working relationships, and ensure alignment between HR practices and business goals.
In this dynamic environment, you will navigate the full employee lifecycle—from pre-employment and onboarding to offboarding and personnel actions. You will coordinate with various departments and vendors to ensure seamless hiring processes and manage complex compliance tasks related to Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) and wage determinations. The position requires strong judgment and exceptional communication skills to interpret organizational policies, resolve employee concerns, and prepare written communications for managers and staff.
You will lead periodic meetings with business units, analyze HR data to identify trends, and audit processes to ensure regulatory compliance. A key aspect of this role involves interpreting complex documents, such as federal contracts and legal codes, to formulate opinions and bring potential compliance issues to management's attention. You will work effectively with a diverse population of employees, ranging from executive leadership to staff, within a multi-industry environment that includes significant business with the federal government.
As a condition of employment, successful candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and receive acceptable background check results. If applicable to specific contracts, you must also obtain and maintain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to access military installations.

Professional HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR). Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or related field. Prior experience with HR data management, preferably utilizing Deltek Costpoint or UKG. Prior experience working within an Alaska Native Corporation.
