This position is for a Summer School Teacher in the Family Consumer Science content area (Grades 9-12). The primary mission is to facilitate student achievement by helping students learn subject matter and skills that contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible individuals. The role exists to provide a focused learning environment during the summer session, ensuring students receive rigorous instruction tailored to their individual needs, interests, and abilities.
As a teacher in this program, you will create a classroom environment conducive to learning that is appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. You will guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, employing a variety of instructional techniques and media. The role requires balancing high-energy instruction with the necessary organization to manage lesson plans, student records, and classroom behavior standards.
Summer School sessions for grades 9-12 run for 14 days, from Wednesday, June 3rd through Thursday, June 25th. The daily schedule operates Monday through Thursday from 7:15 am to 4:25 pm, divided into two class periods with a lunch break in between. Employment in this program is contingent upon student enrollment.
Candidates must hold a valid Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Teaching Certification specifically in Family Consumer Science (B-12). The application process involves verifying certification and educational background (Bachelor's degree). Selected candidates will be expected to implement the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals through their instruction and actions.
