This position serves as a vital support pillar within The Salvation Army's housing and social services network. You will supervise and participate in the day-to-day operations of a lodge, shelter, or house, ensuring the smooth delivery of housing, food, transportation, and educational assistance to clients. The role exists to maintain a safe, compliant, and supportive environment where residents can access essential services while adhering to organizational policies and local, state, and federal regulations.
Your day will be a blend of administrative oversight and active community engagement. You will serve as the lead worker for security personnel, monitoring resident behavior to ensure safety and compliance with house rules. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to facility management, including supervising cleaning, maintenance, and the preparation of food. You will also drive Salvation Army vehicles to transport clients to appointments, handle donation pickups, and run other necessary errands. Throughout the shift, you will ensure all paperwork is accurately completed and that the facility remains neat and orderly.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) operating Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with the possibility of covering evening or overnight shifts. The work is performed in a social services environment where interaction with the public is constant. While the role requires limited physical effort, such as walking, standing, and lifting light objects, it also involves exposure to potential communicable diseases common in shelter settings.
