About the Role

As a Histotech Assistant in the Histology Laboratory, you will contribute to the diagnosis, treatment, and care of patients by performing a volume and variety of Histopathology technical procedures. Working under direct supervision, you will handle tasks ranging from embedding tissue blocks and performing microtomy to managing specimen tracking, accessioning, and photography. This role serves as a critical foundation for laboratory operations, requiring you to maintain equipment, prepare reagents, troubleshoot issues, and act as a subject matter expert for the Lab Information System.

This position is designed as a limited tenure role for a maximum of 3 years, offering a unique pathway for professional growth. Individuals hired into this position are required to complete 2 years before becoming eligible to apply to other positions within Mayo Clinic. If accepted into the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences (MCSHS) Histology Technician Program, you may be eligible to reduce to 0.5 full-time equivalency (FTE) while working towards program prerequisites.

Hiring Process

To be considered for this position, your application must include the following documents:

  • CV/Resume
  • Cover letter
  • Transcripts (unofficial copy accepted) or a NACES detailed international equivalency for foreign degrees
  • Internal candidates must provide their past three performance appraisals

Internal Candidates:

  • DLMP employees in their current lab/position for less than 2 years must attach early release approval from their supervisor.
  • Non-DLMP internal applicants in their current department/position for less than 1 year must attach early release approval from their supervisor.

International Applicants:

  • A detailed equivalency evaluation showing a US equivalent degree is mandatory. The evaluation must be completed by an organization listed as a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. (AICE).

Please note that this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship, and Mayo Clinic does not participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.
