Where You Will Work

This position is based at the Gainesville Operations Center, located at 5301 NE 39 Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32609. The role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions, on various terrains, and at various heights or in high-volume traffic. Incumbents must be readily available to respond to emergencies and may work with or around Department of Corrections inmates.

Hiring Process & Application Instructions

Eligibility & Citizenship Candidates must be United States (U.S.) citizens or lawfully authorized alien workers. Visa sponsorship is not available. Male applicants born on or after October 1, 1962, must be registered with the Selective Service System (SSS) before their 26th birthday to be eligible for hire.

Application Integrity To ensure honesty and transparency, all applicants must provide their own work. The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to assist with qualifying questions, work samples, or interviews is strictly prohibited. Any breach of this requirement will lead to the applicant being removed from consideration.

Required Verifications Applicants must provide their Social Security Number for required verifications. All employees are subject to reasonable suspicion drug testing. For positions requiring a Commercial Driver License (CDL), applicants must register with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's Drug and Alcohol (FMCSA) Clearinghouse for a pre-employment query.

Veterans' Preference FDOT values the service veterans and their family members have given to our country. Preference-eligible applicants who receive notice of a hiring decision and believe they were not afforded employment preference may file a written complaint within 60 calendar days with the Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs.
