About the Role

The Level B Fleet Mechanic/Technician serves as a journeyman-level expert within our maintenance operations. This role is pivotal in ensuring high uptime and DOT compliance for our refuse trucks, heavy tractors, trailers, and heavy equipment. As a key member of the team, you will go beyond standard repairs to independently diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.

Your day will involve a dynamic mix of independent troubleshooting, hands-on repair, and operational support. You will be the go-to resource for road calls and breakdowns throughout the NYC tri-state area, performing safe temporary or permanent repairs to return vehicles to service quickly. Beyond the wrench, you play a vital leadership role by mentoring Level C technicians, guiding them on best practices, safety protocols, and proper repair methods. You will also drive continuous improvement initiatives, analyzing recurring defects to reduce repeat repairs and standardize parts usage.
