The Highway Maintenance Technician I is an entry-level, hands-on position dedicated to keeping roadways safe and reliable for the traveling public. Working under the guidance of an experienced crew leader, you will support routine maintenance tasks ranging from pothole patching and debris removal to mowing, trimming, and basic drainage work. This role is designed for individuals with a strong work ethic and a commitment to safety who are eager to learn, earn certifications, and build a long-term career in highway maintenance.
As a team member, you will make a tangible, positive impact on the communities we serve. The work is dynamic and outdoors in all weather conditions, often requiring flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts during storms or emergencies. You will operate a variety of equipment, from commercial mowers to mini-excavators, while adhering to strict safety protocols and maintaining a safety-first mindset to protect yourself, your crew, and motorists.
Candidates must be at least 23 years old and possess a valid Florida driver's license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record. The selection process includes a pre-employment background check, a job-related physical, and compliance with the company's Drug and Alcohol Policy, which includes pre-employment and random testing. Successful candidates will be expected to obtain Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) or Flagger certification within company timelines.

High school diploma or G.E.D. Previous experience in road maintenance, landscaping, construction, or a related field. Knowledge of MOT/Flagger concepts. DOT Medical Card. Herbicide applicator license. Experience with FDOT standards. Living within a reasonable response time to the yard.
