This position serves as a vital link within the City of Charleston's Streets & Sidewalks division, focusing on the operation, repair, and maintenance of municipal parks, rights-of-way, and drainage systems. The role is dedicated to supervising and coordinating crews that operate specialized heavy equipment, ensuring that critical infrastructure projects are executed safely, accurately, and efficiently.
In this capacity, you will manage worksites to uphold high standards of safety and productivity. Your day-to-day involves ensuring personnel are adequately trained, conducting monthly safety meetings, and maintaining equipment to ensure it is clean and ready for use. You will also inspect work areas to determine necessary materials and equipment, adjust work procedures to meet production schedules, and recommend improvements to methods and equipment performance. Additionally, the role requires completing time and production records, preparing reports, and may involve operating heavy machinery such as excavators, backhoes, tractors, front-end loaders, and dump trucks.
