This position serves as a vital coordinator within the interprofessional team at Sharp Memorial Hospital, delivering quality patient care under the direction of a licensed nurse. The role is designed to ensure seamless communication and efficient medical record management across the unit. You will act as the primary point of contact for patient data, facilitating transcription, order entry, and documentation while supporting the best use of departmental resources.
In this capacity, you will manage the full patient journey, from admissions and room setup to transfers and discharges. Your day involves greeting patients and families, answering call lights and phones promptly, and coordinating with physicians and staff to address patient needs. You will also play a critical role in safety and infection control, ensuring that patient belongings are accounted for and that all safety procedures are followed. This role requires close collaboration with the nursing team to identify changes in patient conditions and to execute care plans within your scope of practice.
This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with SEIU-UHW. As part of the terms of employment, employees in this role are required to join the union within 31 days of hire and remain a member for the duration of the collective bargaining agreement.

H.S. Diploma or Equivalent. Other Comparable to certified nursing assistant course. 1 Year recent experience in geriatric setting or recent experience in an acute care hospital. 1 Year experience as unit clerk/secretary.
