Providence has been serving the Inland Northwest since 1886, when Mother Joseph and the Sisters of Providence founded Sacred Heart Medical Center. Today, Providence is the largest healthcare provider in Washington, located in communities large and small across the state. In eastern Washington, Providence provides care throughout Spokane, Stevens, and Walla Walla counties.
Our award-winning and comprehensive medical centers are known for outstanding programs in cancer, cardiology, neurosciences, orthopedics, women's services, emergency and trauma care, pediatrics, and neonatal intensive care. Our not-for-profit network also provides a full spectrum of care with leading-edge diagnostics and treatment, outpatient health centers, physician groups and clinics, numerous outreach programs, and hospice and home care.
The Unit Secretary functions under the supervision of the Surgical Services Manager, Charge RNs, or Nursing Supervisor. This role is vital to the daily operations of the department, assisting in the planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating of activities. You will be the hub of the nursing station, entering physician orders, managing clerical and receptionist duties, and maintaining the physical environment.
Your day will involve answering phones, running errands, ordering nursing station supplies, and inputting computer data for reports, care management, and pharmacy topics. You will also assist with special projects, helping to design audit tools and statistical studies. This position requires demonstrating behavior practices that reflect the philosophy and mission of our sponsors, the Dominican Sisters, and Providence Mount Carmel Hospital's Standards of Conduct.
