As a Road Driver, you will be responsible for the pickup and delivery of cargo trailers to and from various long-distance destinations. This full-time position requires a Class-A CDL with specific endorsements for Hazardous Materials, Tanker Vehicles, and Doubles or Triples. Your day-to-day duties involve performing check-ins, conducting tractor and trailer inspections, setting up tractors, and coupling and uncoupling trailers. You will be driving for extended periods, with actual duties and schedules varying depending on the terminal location. This role demands frequent travel, with 75% or more of the time spent on the road.
We provide fully air-conditioned equipment, with road tractors averaging less than 18 months in age and equipped with power steering. All ABF equipment is covered by a preventive maintenance program. Compensation is based on the Teamster Union Scale with an over-the-road mileage rate. Candidates must be at least 21 years old with a high school diploma or GED. Applicants require a minimum of one year of verifiable tractor/trailer experience, though candidates with less experience may be eligible for training. A good stable work record and a safe driving record (verified via MVR and previous employment) are essential. All candidates must pass a DOT pre-employment drug screen and meet DOT medical requirements. Shift days and hours vary by location and may include days, nights, and weekends.
