The Hawaii State Department of Education is seeking a Special Education Inclusion Teacher for Grades 9-12. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Core Content Area Teachers within an inclusive classroom setting. Your primary mission involves co-teaching strategies, implementing specific modifications and accommodations to support special education students, and diligently monitoring their academic progress.
The Department is committed to ensuring highly qualified teachers are present in every classroom. While a Bachelor's Degree is the minimum requirement for application, successful candidates are expected to hold a valid Special Education license from the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board (HTSB) or an Emergency Hire Permit. If hired without a completed Teacher's Education Program, you will have a maximum of three years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license. During this period, you must enroll in an aligned program and actively demonstrate progress toward meeting HTSB licensing requirements to maintain employment.
You will join a team dedicated to fostering an inclusive educational environment. Success in this position requires the ability to exercise independent professional judgment, maintain an effective work pace under pressure, and grasp new concepts quickly. Collaboration is key; you will work effectively with colleagues to facilitate Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings and ensure the success of all students.
