The Classroom Teacher at Caddo Parish Public School System serves as a vital partner in the educational development of every student. Working under the direction of the principal, this role is dedicated to administering the classroom in strict accordance with School Board policies while utilizing instructional and administrative skills to foster growth.
This position is more than a collection of duties; it is a commitment to the TAP (Teaching Skills, Knowledge, and Responsibilities) Performance Standards. Teachers are held accountable for meeting research-based standards across four key domains: Instruction, Planning, Environment, and Professionalism. The role requires a deep understanding of student needs, the ability to create motivating learning experiences, and a dedication to continuous professional growth.
A typical day involves orchestrating a dynamic learning environment where clear learning outcomes are communicated and student success is prioritized. Teachers design lessons that align with state standards, utilizing varied instructional strategies, visuals, and questioning techniques to engage diverse learners. Beyond the classroom, the role includes active participation in school life, such as supervising students during lunch, recess, and assemblies, as well as sponsoring clubs or attending athletic events.
Collaboration is central to this position. Teachers work harmoniously with staff, parents, and stakeholders, attending departmental meetings, IEP sessions, and parent-teacher conferences. Professionalism is demonstrated through punctuality, appropriate conduct, and a commitment to implementing new learning from professional development sessions to enhance student achievement.
Candidates for this position will be evaluated based on their alignment with the TAP rubric and their ability to contribute to the school's accountability measures within the Louisiana Accountability System. The selection process emphasizes a candidate's capacity to manage student behavior, plan effective instruction, and maintain a respectful, safe classroom culture.
Caddo Parish Public School System is committed to providing a diverse and inclusive educational environment. We value the unique perspectives and backgrounds that all educators bring to our schools and strive to create a community where every student and staff member feels respected and supported.
