About the Role

This position seeks Board Certified/Board Eligible (BC/BE) Gastroenterology Hospitalists to provide general GI services in Columbia, SC. The role involves providing comprehensive consultative GI care on the inpatient service and performing general GI procedures, including colonoscopy, biopsy, polypectomy, endoscopy, PEG placement, liver biopsy, esophageal variceal banding, and hemorrhoidal banding.

The position offers a unique work-life balance with a schedule of 7 days on and 7 days off. Strong advance practitioner support is available until 4 PM daily, including weekends, with very little call back required after 5 PM. Additionally, the role includes opportunities for teaching residents and medical students within a fully ACGME accredited Internal Medicine Residency Program and eight IM subspecialty fellowship programs. Successful candidates will receive an academic rank with the University of South Carolina School of Medicine commensurate with their experience.
