The Gearbox Senior Principal Engineer (SPE) serves as a pivotal technical leader within the Wind engineering team, responsible for the overall technical underwriting and acceptance of design, development, and implementation for gearboxes, components, and cooling systems in wind turbines. This role is designed to define the rigor required for accepting design decisions across gears, bearings, structures, lubrication, and cooling systems.\n In this leadership position, you will partner with Chief Consulting Engineers (CCE) to set and execute strategies for design processes, field issue resolution, and the adoption of new design tools and technologies. The role demands a blend of deep technical proficiency and adept problem-solving skills to drive organizational advancement. You will collaborate with design teams, cross-functional groups, and external experts to ensure safe, high-quality products while mentoring and developing engineering talent to build technical depth within the gearbox domain.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Strong technical expertise in wind turbine mechanical subsystems and/or components. Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams, including remote teams. Proven track record of complex issue resolution using tools such as failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), reliability engineering, and RCA 8D process. Knowledge of wind turbine industry standards and regulations regarding fabricated structures. Experience in project management. Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills. Track record of curiosity and passion for turning new ideas, technologies, and methodologies into product differentiated outcomes. Experience with coaching, mentoring, and developing technical engineering talent.
