Join the Butler Dynamic Systems Design Team, where you will support critical military aircraft programs. As a Gearbox Design Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will play a pivotal role in advancing aerospace engineering capabilities within a dynamic environment.
This position focuses on the clean-sheet design of gearbox systems for military applications. You will be responsible for developing new gearbox systems from the ground up, without relying on existing configurations or preliminary basic data. Your work will encompass the sizing and design of gears, bearings, shafts, and housings, alongside conducting essential lubrication analysis.
You will also lead the design of castings, forgings, and machined parts, ensuring precision and reliability. Proficiency in Catia V5 is central to this role, specifically utilizing generative shape design, part design, and assembly design workbenches for 3D modeling, as well as 2D drafting. A strong command of Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5 is required to maintain rigorous engineering standards.
Beyond technical execution, success in this role demands excellent communication and problem-solving skills to navigate complex design challenges. Experience with Catia V5 Model Based Design (MBD) using the Functional Tolerancing and Annotation (FT&A) workbench is highly preferred.
Interested candidates should submit their application through the official portal. The process typically involves a review of qualifications followed by an interview to assess technical expertise and cultural fit.
