The Division of Oncology within the Department of Internal Medicine (DOIM) at the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine and the Huntsman Cancer Institute is a premier center for cancer care and research. As one of twelve divisions within the DOIM, our faculty and advanced practice clinicians are dedicated to high-quality, value-driven patient care, education, and innovation. We serve the five-state Mountain West region and beyond, providing fully integrated, high-value cancer care across our main campus, community clinics, and affiliate hospital locations.
Our clinical operations are supported by 34 physicians and 30 advanced practice clinicians delivering outpatient and inpatient services at four Salt Lake Valley locations, including Huntsman Cancer Institute and community clinics in South Jordan, Sugar House, and Farmington. We also provide vital outreach services to affiliate hospitals in Rexburg, Idaho; Jackson, Wyoming; and Helena, Montana. The Division boasts one of the most robust clinical-trial programs in the region, accounting for nearly half of all industry, investigator-initiated, and NCI trials at Huntsman Cancer Institute in FY24, backed by $20 million in extramural funding.
Beyond clinical excellence, the Division is deeply committed to education and research. We train 18 fellows in our combined Oncology/Hematology program, alongside PhD students, MD/PhD candidates, and residents through accelerated Physician-Scientist Training Programs. Our research ecosystem leverages unique assets like the Utah Population Database for genetic research and is supported by shared resources including the Clinical Trials Office and Molecular Pathology Shared Resource.
We are recruiting an outstanding clinician specializing in gastrointestinal cancers to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be appointed as Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor on the clinical or tenure track, depending on experience. This role is central to the Huntsman Cancer Institute's strategic priority to expand integrated cancer care across the Intermountain West.
In this position, you will provide exceptional clinical care and lead clinical or translational research across our various locations. You will have the opportunity to participate in multidisciplinary teams to develop new clinical research programs and advance our mission of discovery. We seek a leader with a track record of accomplishment in academic oncology, including original contributions to research, national visibility, and a history of securing extramural funding. This role combines the passion for research with a commitment to teaching and the delivery of compassionate, patient-focused care.
