The Gallery Attendant is a part-time position (10-29 hours per week) dedicated to maintaining a visitor-friendly atmosphere while ensuring the safety and security of the museum's artwork and facilities. This role serves as a vital front-line presence, bridging the gap between security protocols and guest experience.
The position requires physical mobility, including walking throughout the museum, standing for periods, and using stairs. Attendants may also be required to lift or move items of moderate weight as needed. The role is essential to the museum's daily operations, acting as a point of contact for visitors and a monitor of alarm systems and access points.
General work hours are Tuesday through Sunday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with Saturday or Sunday attendance required. Availability for evening events is also necessary, with general evening shifts running from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Flexibility regarding nights, weekends, and holidays is a core requirement for this front-line position.
Gallery Attendants enjoy a supportive work environment that includes an Employee Assistance Program and professional development opportunities. The role offers a family-level museum membership, along with discounts at the museum gift shop and café.
Candidates should possess strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with a preference for those who have prior security or museum experience.
