Providence Swedish Neuroscience Institute is a nationally recognized, comprehensive neuroscience program dedicated to improving the health and well-being of every person it serves. As part of the Providence family, the institute operates within a Seattle-based health network featuring five award-winning institutes and over 1,500 beds. The team is world-renowned for innovative diagnoses, treatments, and medical research, supported by a roster of world-class neurologists and neurosurgeons, leading-edge operating rooms, and a specially trained inpatient neurology team.
This is a rare opportunity to shape and expand a comprehensive epilepsy and functional neurosurgery program within a collaborative, high-acuity academic environment. The Functional and Epilepsy Cranial Neurosurgeon will join and help lead a growing practice, balancing approximately 40% subspecialty focus in functional and epilepsy neurosurgery with general neurosurgery.
You will perform complex cranial procedures including SEEG, RNS, DBS, VNS, LITT, open epilepsy surgery, stereotactic procedures, and neuromodulation. The role is primarily based on the Issaquah campus while remaining fully integrated into the broader Swedish Neuroscience Institute for complex cases, inpatient care, and shared call. You will work alongside experienced advanced practice clinicians, neurophysiology, nursing, and perioperative teams, participating in weekly multidisciplinary epilepsy conferences and comprehensive pre-surgical evaluation pathways.
The position offers a sustainable call model supported by APC daytime coverage and cranial fellow support overnight and on weekends. This role is ideal for a surgeon who values clinical excellence, collaboration, and the opportunity to build and lead within one of the Pacific Northwest's premier neuroscience programs. Opportunities for academic appointment, fellowship teaching, research participation, and program leadership are available within a collegial, physician-led culture committed to long-term program investment.
Swedish Neuroscience Institute provides advanced, progressive treatment for a wide range of brain, spine, and central nervous system conditions, utilizing telemedicine technology to expand expertise to patients near and far. The institute operates within a Level 4 Epilepsy program featuring in-house interpretive monitoring and strong adult and pediatric epilepsy collaboration.
